Rev. Ralph J. Chittams, Sr. is the Founder and Executive Director of Urban Red.

          

In 2018, Rev. Chittams was a candidate for the office of At-Large Member of the District of Columbia in Washington, DC. He ran as a principled Conservative in deep blue DC. Ralph served as the Senior Vice-Chairman of the District of Columbia Republican Party for two terms, from 2013-2016. He first ran for office in 2008 when he ran for Ward 7 Representative on the Washington DC School Board. In 2016 Rev. Chittams managed the campaign of Shannon Wright, who ran for President of the Baltimore City Council. He has also volunteered on numerous campaigns in the Washington, DC area.

Rev. Chittams is also affiliated with the Frederick Douglass Foundation and the Douglass Leadership Institute. Those affiliations have afforded him the opportunity to travel the country educating citizens on Conservative issues. He is also a featured speaker with The Content of Character Series™.  

During and after the 2016 presidential election, Rev. Chittams appeared as a regular contributor on NewsOne Now with Roland Martin, where he provided Conservative commentary.

Rev. Chittams has also hosted his own weekly radio show “The Right Guy with Ralph J. Chittams, Sr.” on SHR Media where he and his guests discussed current events from a Conservative Christian Perspective.

Rev. Chittams is a graduate of Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He has also earned two Master’s degrees: a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from the Maple Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary, and a Master of Divinity from the Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.  Rev. Chittams is an ordained Baptist Minister.

Rev. Chittams is acutely aware of the encroachment on religious and civil liberties nationally, and on the world stage. He has attended national and international conferences addressing matters of religious freedom and religious liberty. Rev. Chittams is a sought-after speaker on conservative issues. He also appears regularly on Lion Chasers with Lonnie Poindexter.

His community work and passion for conservative causes led him to become active in many church and civic organizations in the DC region. He has participated in prayer vigils outside of Planned Parenthood facilities. He regularly mentors and volunteers with at-risk youth to show them that education and a living faith is the path out of poverty, and that violence is not the answer. Rev. Chittams has served on the board of several non-profit organizations.
